Grandmother's and Grandfather's Day

Dzień Babci i Dzień Dziadka
Wielki Dzień wszystkich polskich Babć i Dziadków. 22 i 23 stycznia najmłodsi uczniowie zaprosili swoich Dziadków do szkoły. Dzieci przedstawiły inscenizację i dały wielkie czerwone serca tym, którzy ich bardzo kochają. Wszyscy byli wzruszeni.
The Big Day for all Polish nannies and grandpas! On 22 and 23 of January the youngest pupils invited their grandparents to school. It was their annual celebration. Children gave a short performance and big red hearts to those who love them very much. Every body was touched.

There are so many beautiful photos so it has been very difficult to decide and vote. But finally we chose following pictures for our calendar: 27, 25, 24, 23, 21, 14, 13, 12, 9, 5, 4, 1.

Our chosen photos

We vote for numbers 1, 2, 4, 5, 22 and 23. The castles are beautiful as well and Swedish pictures with the hen logo should be there, too.

Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is the biggest and most prosperous charity organization in Poland. In 1992, Jurek Owsiak, a well-established performer used his pop-culture status to help The Children Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw. Owsiak encouraged his audiences to join the forces and help. His idea was to combine rock'n'roll, fun, and charity. He believed in the great potential of the people getting together regardless of weather they have much or little money.
On the first Sunday of 1993 he organized a nation-wide action. He invited Poles all around the country to set up concerts, creative happenings, and parties during which they could collect change that would be later on put on The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity account. It was The Great Finale. Thousands of people participated in the action. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity collected over 1,5 mln of USD! The sum was spent for the highly modern and professional equipment for 10 Pediatric Cardio Surgery Divisions in Poland.
Even though, The Great Final Day was supposed to be a one-time event it turned to be such a smashing success that Jurek Owsiak and the doctors from Children Memorial Health Institute repeated the whole thing next year, and then year after that. Eventually, The Great Final Day became a tradition. The sum of collected money increases every year.

The second joint product

As a Comenius group working together on „A Slice of Bread“ project, we are obliged to produce jointly another product: a calendar. The project requires not only ICT abilities and early acquisition of English, but helps us promote intercultural awareness. It would be valuable if we could present the idea of our project: learning about national traditions and customs in photos taken in our countries: the Czech Republic, Poland and Sweden. Please, feel free to add any photos you have and vote for 12 photos which will be shown in our jointly produced calendar. You have one week to do it.

Building towers in Dub, project meeting October 2008

Do you still remember building paper towers in Dub nad Moravou school? It was a funny activity with nice results, a good example of international cooperation. Maybe it is a good occasion to remind it now, at the beginning of a new year which is the last year of our Comenius project.
