Charity

Charities are organisations which help millions of people in need. Polish pupils take part in various charitable actions.
· Distance adoption. In 2005 we adopted Ornelia from Gabon, Africa. Every year we raise money to improve her life, health and education. Our donation gives her possibility of growing in her own country.
· RSPCA – Animals Shelter - every year animals lovers collect money for homeless or abandoned animals. The money goes to the local shelter.
· Góra grosza - In October we join OUR HOME Association in Poland which runs the project the Mountain of Grosz . The project is organised with the 1st Channel of Polish public television and others. It is a whole country collection of the smallest Polish coins (1 grosz) in schools all types. The aim of the project is to help children who do not have their own homes or orphans or neglected children.
· The Great Daffodil Appeal – Pola nadziei – is a programme set up by Marie Curie Cancer Care in Great Britain in 1938. Pupils plant their own daffodil bulbs in the autumn and monitor and take care of the growing shoots until they blossom into beautiful daffodils in the spring. . Students help raise funds for Marie Curie Hospice that promotes quality life for people with cancer and offers a wide range of additional services.
· Volunteering - We have a voluntary group which represents all students who want to help others. Volunteers raise money, collect clothing and household cleaner and help pupils who have problems at school and elderly people.
· FreeRice – during English lessons students have begun playing a computer game FreeRice. It has two aims: to improve students’ English vocabulary and to donate rice to the hungry. If we click the answer that best defines the word, 20 grains of rice are donated to the United Nation World Food Program.
We enjoy this charity action very much as we can play and see who can donate more and whose vocabulary is better! Boys from grade six A donated 14 400 grains of rice in 20 minutes.

Organizacje charytatywne pomagają milionom potrzebującym. Polscy uczniowie biorą udział w wielu akcjach charytatywnych.
· Adopcja na odległość. W 2005 r. adoptowaliśmy Ornelię z Gabonu w Afryce. Co roku zbieramy pieniądze, aby mogła żyć i uczyć się w lepszych warunkach. Dzięki naszym darom nie musi opuszczać rodzinnego kraju.
· Schronisko dla zwierząt – Każdego roku miłośnicy zwierząt zbierają pieniądze, które przekazywane są lokalnemu schronisku.
· Góra Grosza – Co roku w październiku bierzemy udział w akcji organizowanej przez Stowarzyszenie NASZ DOM. Akcja jest organizowana wspólnie z Telewizją Polską i innymi instytucjami. Jest to ogólnokrajowa zbiórka najmniejszych polskich monet prowadzona we wszystkich rodzajach szkół. Celem jest pomoc dzieciom z domów dziecka.
· Pola nadziei – program zainicjowany przez Marie Curie Cancer Care w Wielkiej Brytanii w 1938r. Jesienią uczniowie sadzą cebulki żonkili i opiekują się nimi aż zakwitną pięknie wiosną. Uczniowie pomagają zbierać fundusze dla Hospicjum Marie Curie, które promuje godne życie dla ludzi dotkniętych rakiem i pomoc dla ich rodzin.
· Wolontariat – W naszej szkole działa grupa wolontariuszy. Zbierają oni pieniądze, ubrania , środki czystości i pomagają uczniom, którzy mają kłopoty w nauce oraz starszym osobom.
· FreeRice – podczas lekcji angielskiego uczniowie zaczęli grać w grę komputerową FreeRice. Ma ona dwa cele: doskonalić słownictwo angielskie i ofiarować ryż głodnym ludziom na świecie. Jeśli naciśniemy przycisk z prawidłową odpowiedzią, 20 ziarenek ryżu jest przekazywanych organizacji Narodów Zjednoczonych.

Bardzo podoba nam się taka działalność charytatywna, ponieważ możemy grać i dowiedzieć się kto więcej ofiarował ryżu a jednocześnie posiada bogatsze słownictwo. Chłopcy z 6A ofiarowali 14400 ziarenek ryżu w ciągu 20 minut.
