A night with Andersen in Dub nad Moravou

A night with Andersen is an international event organized by schools, libraries, children clubs and similar organizations for school kids. Its aim is to support children´s taste for reading and to allow them to share their reading experience. This year it was carried out at more than 600 places in the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries.
In the basic school in Dub nad Moravou students from sixth grade took part and a few younger schoolmates joined them. Twenty – five children altogether spent a night in the Art room in sleeping bags and it was a great adventure for them! Getting familiar with a school building at night, being afraid of scary devils shouting behind a school building, listening to talking about favourite books of all classmates…….it was a nice experience to share!
Students improve their literature knowledge thanks to a quiz whose winners were awarded with books and after this busy time they could check their answers on the net. It was a midnight and nobody was sleeping! The last night owls fell asleep at 4 a.m. and the first early birds woke up at 5 a.m. You can imagine how tired we were in the morning but we liked the Night with Andersen a lot. "What a pity it is only for children up to 12 years old and we will be 13 soon!" students said on Monday.

It sounds like a really nice and fun event and it´s aim is really good! It´s very important to support children´s reading! We should really do something similar here.

It sounds like a really nice thing, we'd like be there too... what a pity that we don't have this kind of stuff in our country.
