Petr and Zbyněk write about their Swedish experience

In half of May me and 6 another students from our school travelled to Sweden as exchange students. We are very glad that our English teacher took us and we would like to thank her for this.

Our way started on bus station in Olomouc, then we continued to Brno and Prague. We had some problems with police on boarders with Germany because some Swedish students travelling with us had small weapons.

After our arrival to Copenhagen we went to see some parts of the city and at the afternoon we took a train to Kalmar. In the train we were nervous, but after we met our host families we knew it's going to be a nice week. At Swedish host families we learnt more about them, ate our first dinner in our "new home" and went sleep.

Next day we visited school in Torsas, baked typical swedish sweets with Swedish students and had a lunch in school canteen. In the afternoon we went by boats to a small island. Boys built sandy castles there and explored the island.

On Thursday Swedish students sang popular songs and had powerpoint presentations about Sweden, swedish customs, animals and music. We had a presentation too, about Czech Republic and famous czechs. After lunch we went by tractor to the seaside. On the beach we played „Saimon says“ and ate icecream. Then we had a small walk throught forest to another place near the sea where we had a barbecue and played games.

On Friday we danced Czech folkdances, sang Czech folksongs and Swedish students showed us some parts of their Music show. After the music program we visited lessons with our hosts and after lunch we went shopping to Kalmar.

On Saturday we went by bus to Öland island. On the beach we played Swedish game called Kubb. Then we visited some places on the island, we tried to catch sheep, visited old fort and a beautiful garden with ceramic decorations.

Sunday was the most sad day because at the morning we had to say goodbye to our Swedish friends. From Kalmar we again went by train to Copenhagen and then to the Czech republic by bus. At traject from Denmark to Germany we spent our last money and buy sweets that we were eating for the rest of our way home.

This trip was big experience for us. We practised our english and saw new places. We enjoyed it a lot. We are looking forward to Swedish student who will come to Czech Republic in October.

Hi! We think this was very interesting experience. You had a very good week in Sweden. You had a lot of strange events. How long did you stay on the border with Germany? What were there weapons? Minigun, shotgun or grenade?:D (it's a joke, of course). Where is Olomouc? In the Czech Republic or in Sweden. Did you have good weather?

Best Wishes,
Rafael and
Kuba.

Of course, Petr and Zbyněk didn´t want to cause any uproar with ther writing about our accident on German border ! The group of Swedish students consisted of boys at the age of 17 or 18 who had a few catapults and played with them when resting outside the bus. German police saw them and we were all surprised how strict they were to all the people on the bus. The police explained to us that taking guns to Germany, even only catapults, is forbidden. We waited there two hours and a half.
It was strange that we didn´t know that such catapults can tourists buy in Prague, where the students from our bus were on a school trip.
Olomouc is a big city in the Czech Republic, about 15 km from Dub nad Mooravou.
